The National President of the renown anti-corruption NGO; Almushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA), Ambassador Aminu Abubakar Majidadi says the sacking of the current service chiefs is long overdue considering the constant insecurity challenges bedeviling the nation in spite federal government’s giant strife in investing huge resources towards ensuring the security of Nigerians and all nationalities leaving in the country.
Amb. Majidadi stated this during a media visit by Radio Nigeria, Capitalwatch Media and other media agencies in his office at Garki 2, Abuja. The anti-corruption champion expresses his dismay over incidents of attacks, banditries, kidnappings and other sorts of insecurity when the nation has a world recognized security architecture with elegant men of the armed forces and intelligence personnel.
“Holistically, we have a whole lot of security challenges in Nigeria which includes; activities of book haram insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other forms incessant attacks of innocent and helpless Nigerians in their homes and villages unabated.
“Going by the trend of the daily occurrence of criminality activities in all parts of the country and the news of the increase of attacks by the boko haram sect which recently involved the attack on the convoy of Borno State Governor, we don’t need a prophet to tell us that our security heads and structures need reshuffling.” Majidadi said.
According to him, the inability of the security agencies to combat the tremendous security challenges in Nigeria is sabotage to Mr President Buhari’s magnanimous records and ability in tackling insecurity to a zero or minimal level.
“President Buhari means well to Nigerians and I know he is not happy over what is currently happening in the aspect of not been to safeguard lives and properties of Nigerians towards having a safer country where investors would love to come and do business towards the growth and development of Nigeria and Nigerians.” He stated.
The National President of AITA further opined the sacking of the service chiefs who he said they have done their best but obviously it is time they go and pave way for new hands to come and try their skills and abilities to seeing safer society than what we are experiencing at the moment.
Regard to President Buhari’s anti-corruption campaign, Amb. Majidadi emphasized that Nigerians should be calm and corporate with this administration because fighting corruption is a collective effort not to be left for Mr President alone.
“And let me make this record straight, the ongoing Magu Saga does not in any way mean that the government has failed, but Magu as a person who was bestowed upon with the trust to pilot the ship of this war against corruption through the EFCC has failed Nigerians.
