Lingering Fuel Scarcity: Amb. Majidadi Faults Authority, Calls for Genuine Solution

The National President of Al-Mushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA); Ambassador Aminu Abubakar Majidadi fault the efforts by the government and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for the lingering fuel scarcity and long queues at filling stations across Nigeria.

Addressing news correspondence in his Abuja office, Majidadi expressed dissatisfaction over what the government and NNPC claimed to be doing in profiling solutions to the limited supply of fuel that has caused a lot of hardship to Nigerians.

“It is very disheartening that Nigeria as an oil producing nation its citizens can’t have access to excess supply of fuel at all times. The fuel scarcity has been for more than seven weeks now and yet NNPC and other relevant authorities failed to tackle the situation but rather gave assurance without results.

“Enough is enough, people are suffering as prices of commodities in the market have risen, transportation fare also on the high side caused by the fuel scarcity.” Majidadi stated.

“Also very key to mention is how the fuel marketers are creating artificial scarcity by not selling fuel to motorists rather to black marketers who resell the same to people at exuberant prices and the authorities are doing nothing about.” He added.

In conclusion, Amb. Majidadi called on the federal government, NNPC and other stakeholders to do the needful and genuinely profile solution to this nightmare of lingering fuel scarcity causing extreme hardship to Nigerians.
