Egume Ome Descendants Union , Dekina- Kogi State,has renewed its commitment to contribute its quota towards execution of viable projects that will impact on the lives of the people of the area.
The Chairman of Lokoja Branch of the association, Comerade Noah Ocheni gave the assurance at the weekend in Lokoja during the annual get-together organised for members to usher in the new year.
Ocheni , a veteran journalist called on Egume Ome Community not to relent in complementing government’s efforts towards the provision of basic infrastructure such as potable water, electricity, hospitals, schools and roads among others.
According to him, “The era of looking forward for government alone to provide all needed basic infrastructure that would boost the living condition of the people is gone hence the need for communities and well to do citizens to join hands through Self-help to achieve the goal
“I appreciate members of Lokoja branch of Egume Ome Descendants Union for embarking on meaningful ventures that would help promote unity and development of their father land
“As we intend to start our town hall project this year, I call for synergy between our male and female groups to ensure that the project is achieved.”
The Chairman of the occasion, Mohammed Aikoye in his address, commended the Lokoja branch of the Union for facilitating the supply of medical equipment to the hospital at Egume.
He also praised the national body of the union in its task to end insecurity situation at Egume.
He therefore, solicited the support of the people of Egume for the Union to enable it live up to expectations in task towards developing the area.
