The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, as the winner of Kano South senatorial election.
The returning officer, Prof. Ibrahim Barde, announced the election results at the collation centre in Rano Local Government Area of the state.
He said Sumaila polled 319,857votes to defeat his rival Gaya of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 192, 518, while Murtala Bashir Galadanci of the Peoples Democratic Party got 14,880 votes.
Sumaila was a former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
