A former Nigerian International, Andrew Uwe, is back in the country after spending several years in the United States and Europe where he coached a number of football clubs. Uwe who captained the Flying Eagles, the nation’s intermediate soccer team to a bronze medal win at the World Youth Championship[renamed FIFA Under-20 World Cup] in Moscow in 1985,expressed his desire to bring his experience to bear in coaching any of the country’s national teams. Uwe, who boasts of coaching diplomas from US and Europe resumed in February with the Lagos-based Real Sapphire FC as their technical director. The club is owned by a Nigerian based in the United Kingdom, Mr Frank Peters, who hails from Anambra State.
The “Big Coach “ as Uwe is fondly called by his admirers is desirous to help his team attain the highest level of the game in Lagos State and the country as a whole.
Apart from this, he is saddled with the task of helping the coaches of the club in drawing “ a programme for them to advance in the beautiful game.”
