No fewer than 30 people abducted by terrorists in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State have been rescued by the Nigerian Army.
The chairman of the local government council, Hussaini Bena, disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, on Sunday.
He explained that while 24 of those abducted were released on Friday, the remaining six regained their freedom on Saturday.
Bena noted that the release of the outstanding allowances to the security agencies by Governor Nasir Idris had boosted the morale of the personnel, which led to the remarkable success.
He commended the state government for what he described as the continued and monumental support to security agencies towards restoring peace in the state.
“Let me also appreciate the efforts of the Brigade Commander in charge of Kebbi State for the resilience of his officers and men, which led to the rescue of 30 people in just two days,” he added.
According to him, some of the abducted people were from Kotangora in Niger State, Danmari, Kaba and Kajiji in Sokoto and Zamfara states, while others were from Bena in Kebbi State.
