Fuel Pump Price Increase: It’s Getting Tougher on Nigerians, Act Fast – Amb. Majidadi to FG

The National President of a renown anti-corruption NGO; Almushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA) Ambassador Aminu Abubakar Majidadi has called on the federal government of Nigeria to as matter of urgency intervene and to quick implement initiatives, policies and programmes to caution the effects of the fuel subsidy removal which contributed majorly to why the masses of this country are faced with hardships and incessant hunger.

In a statement made available to newsmen through his media aide on Wednesday, Amb. Majidadi reacted to the recent raise in the fuel pomp price from N537 to N617 as announced by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Tuesday which has added to an already high cost of living caused by the earlier
increase in the fuel pump price as the result of the fuel subsidy removal.

“As an activist, advocate of Nigerian masses and an anti-corruption crusader, I owe the poor masses of this country the responsibility to air out their cry to the
constituted authorities whenever the need a raises as it is at the moment.” He stated.

“I must commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the leadership boldness and right decision to remove the fuel subsidy aimed at changing the narrative towards giving Nigerians more dividend of democracy against the usual benefit of just a few in the name of fuel subsidy.”

“Nevertheless, I must call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to act fast in availing tangible initiatives and programmes to caution the effects of the fuel subsidy removal. The current hardship that majority of Nigerians are facing is indeed
unbearable. Obviously, transportation fair has increased, prices of commodities also on the high site and every other means of livelihood.” He added.

Amb. Majidadi further called on the national assembly to also follow suite in contributing to whatever initiative brought by the executive in this regard and such should gain speedy approval or passage into law with urgency.

“Nigerians must not continue in this kind of hardship, as some people cannot feed three square meals a day, some lost their jobs while some employers can no longer exist due to raise in fuel pump price as well as high cost of materials.” He ended.
