In a significant judicial pronouncement on Tuesday, the Appeal Court, presiding in Abuja, delivered a decisive judgment affirming the victory of Hon Jacob Ajegana Kudu, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Nasarawa Eggon East Constituency election.
The ruling effectively dismissed the petition lodged by Ibrahim Muhammed, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who contested the outcome of the keenly contested election.
The legal battle that ensued post-election was characterised by fervent arguments and extensive legal representations from both parties. Hon. Jacob Ajegana Kudu emerged triumphant in the election held on March 18, 2023, garnering substantial support from constituents within the Nasarawa Eggon East Constituency.
The Appeal Court’s decision ratified the earlier ruling of the lower tribunal, which had upheld Hon. Jacob Ajegana Kudu’s victory. The panel of judges meticulously scrutinised the evidence presented by both sides before arriving at their judgment.
Following the pronouncement, Hon. Jacob Ajegana Kudu addressed the press, expressing gratitude to the judiciary for upholding the people’s choice and reaffirming his dedication to serving the constituents diligently.
He extended an olive branch to his opponents, emphasising the need for unity and collaboration to drive progress and development in the Nasarawa Eggon East Constituency.
With the conclusion of the protracted legal tussle at the Appeal Court, Hon. Jacob Ajegana Kudu now stands officially affirmed as the winner of the Nasarawa Eggon East Constituency election.
