AMB. MAJIDADI CONDEMNS KILLING OF 16 SOLDIERS IN OKUAMA

Ambassador Aminu Abubarkar Majidadi, the national president of Almushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA) has condemned in strong terms the killing of a commanding officer, two majors, one captain and 12 other officers of the Nigerian military in Okuama of Delta State.

In a statement made available through his media aid, Amb. Majidadi expressed his dismay over the tragic incident that occurred on Thursday, 14 March in Okuama during a communal clash between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The AITA boss said the ambush and killing of the sixteen soldiers is unfortunate, barbaric, brutal and culprits mush be unmasked and punished accordingly.

Amb. Majidadi further said, “it is sad that in their attempt to ensure peace between the conflicting communities, they ended up been ambushed and killed. This is unacceptable and condemnable”.

Although, as manhunt for the killers is still ongoing and some arrests have also been made by the soldiers led by the General Officer Commanding 6 division Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, Amb. Majidadi commended the effort and encouraged further intensified investigation and prosecution of all perpetrators.

Sadly, some of the recovered corpses were said to have been beheaded, while the stomachs and hearts of others were ripped off as reported by Channels Television.

In his reaction to the incident, the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, has ordered a probe into the tragic killing of four senior officers and 12 soldiers.

On his part, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also condemned the incident and ordered the CDS to ensure all culprits are arrested and prosecuted.
