In a significant development, AIHS has announced a strategic collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development for its 18th edition, scheduled from July 20-27, 2024, at the National Stadium in Abuja. This year’s theme, “Financing the Housing We Need,” will emphasize sustainable and affordable housing solutions, particularly for low-income earners, addressing the challenges of green building and climate change.

Festus Adebayo, Executive Director of Housing Development Advocacy in Nigeria and Africa and Coordinator of AIHS 2024, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting that the housing and construction industry has long awaited an independent ministry focused on housing and urban development. Adebayo confirmed that Arc Ahmed Dangiwa, the performing minister of housing and urban development, will serve as the event’s chief host.

Adebayo emphasized the event’s role in promoting local production, stating that international attendees will have opportunities to network with heads of free zones in Nigeria, fostering local production and job creation across the continent. With participation confirmed from 21 countries, this year’s AIHS promises to be unique and impactful.

Political leaders and policymakers will play a crucial role in addressing the housing deficit, with governors and commissioners from all 36 states participating. The event will feature over 400 exhibitors, provide a platform for women in the sector, dedicate a day to under-40 real estate CEOs, and host educational sessions and other activities.

Adebayo stressed the importance of government involvement in sustainable housing delivery and public-private partnerships, highlighting the significant impact of housing on Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The AIHS will create opportunities for investors, innovators, inventors, and members of the Organized Private Sector to share ideas, generating more businesses, wealth, and increased revenue.

Expressing confidence in the event’s preparation, Adebayo assured that AIHS 2024 will surpass previous editions in creativity, organization, participant numbers, and overall impact.
