A 41-year-old estate agent, Kingsley Monaopiri, on Thursday appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged fraudulent conversion of his clients N380,000.
Monaopiri, whose address was not given, is facing a count charge before Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Ajaga Agboko, the defendant fraudulently converted to his personal use, the sum belonging to Mr Chijioke Onyia.
Agboko submitted that the defendant committed the offence in February 2018 at Mopol Zone, Iraz-Nla, Ajah, Lagos.
He alleged that Monaopiri fraudulently converted a balance of N380,000 from the sale of a property belonging to Onyia, without his consent.

“The buyer brought the N380,000 balance to the defendant since February 2018 to give to Onyia but he converted it to his personal use,” he said.
He said that the offence contravened Section 283 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 8 for mention. (NAN)
