Protesters besieged the headquarters of the national secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) calling for an investigation over allegations of anti-party activities by the party’s North-west vice chairman, Ibrahim Kazaure.
The protesters who are PDP members from the North-west zone displayed placards with various inscriptions alleging anti-party activities by Kazaure. One of such placards read the “Ambassador Kazaure is killing PDP in the Northwest.”
Convener of the protest group named PDP NorthWest Concerned Youth Forum, Abubakar Rafindadi, accused Kazaure of distabilising the party.
He further alleged that the zonal vice chairman has been hobnobbing with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
But in a tacit reaction, the national chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus said”On the North west, it is an internal matter and we will handle it very well”
However in the petition Rafindadi said: “At this point, I will like to call on your good and powerful but yet humble office to set-up a panel to investigate this glaring allegations that we level against the person of Senator Kazaure and for peace to reign and keep the party together, he steps aside as zonal Chairman in other to allow for a transparent process of investigation to take place.
“Your excellency, we are writing this petition as patriotic and loyal party members against the risky, unethical, immoral and dishonorable actions of the PDP Northwest Zonal Chairman in person of Senator Ibrahim Musa Kazaure.”
Rafindadi warned that the action was capable of destroying the party in the zone ahead of the 2023 general election.
The petition further read: “Sir, since Senator Kazaure resumed office as zonal Chairman of the Party in 2016, there has never been a day in which a zonal meeting was called to discuss crucial, far-reaching, issues that have considerable consequences to the survival of our great party which are too numerous to mention.
“Mr Chairman that we live in a time when our party members are cross-carpeting into other political parties especially the APC due to numerous unresolved, unattended and petty issues especially in the Northwest geo-Political zone of this country which is headed by Sen. Kazaure, and even this alone has not been seen as sufficient for him to rally round and bring stakeholders together to discuss and provide solutions and also re-assure party faithfuls of the leadership commitment to solve differences and hold the party together, the petition stated.
“Sir, aside calling for meetings, we challenge the Zonal Chairman to prove if there was ever a time that he was on seat for an hour in our designated zonal PDP headquarters in Kaduna, but many times and again he has been seen going in and out of Kaduna State government house visiting Governor Nasir El-Rufai, which makes one begins to wonder if that is the seat of the PDP Zonal Secretariat!
“This definitely is a high crime against the PDP which punishment is prescribed by the party’s constitution.
He said “Party faithfuls have at different times reported seeing Sen. Kazaure visiting the Abuja and Lagos residence of a Chieftain of the APC in person of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu especially leading to the 2019 general elections and beyond and their complaints fell on deaf ears, this high crime is definitely the reason why we lost a lot of seats in the 2019 general elections that PDP members contested for in the Northwestern States.
“With the above, it definitely comes as no surprise why Sen. Kazaure maintains double standards and speaks from the both sides of his mouth, he has since succeeded,” he said.
