By Danusa Ocholi

Chief Executive Officer [CEO]/ National President of Al-Mushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA) ,and Publisher Capitalwatch Media,  His Excellency Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Majidadi has unequivocally condemned the killings in Katsina state in which more than 100 people lost their lives  as a result of an attack by terrorists. Alhaji Majidadi, a frontline human rights activist, anti-corruption crusade and Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Guinea described the development as not only  callous, but  barbaric,  wicked and inhuman. Alhaji Majidadi  expressed concern that such a heinous crime  could take place in the home state of Mr President, with reckless abandon, stressing that this underlines  the level of security challenges facing  the nation.

Death toll in the recent clash between terrorists and vigilantes in Gidan Gamji village, Danmaidaki ward of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State has risen to 100 following the discovery of 56 more bodies. It was  earlier reported that terrorists ambushed and killed 44 vigilantes in Gidan Gamji village, Danmaidaki ward of Kankara Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman of the state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, while confirming the incident, said those killed were members of the outlawed Yansakai (volunteers) group from 11 villages in Bakori Local Government Area who were tracing the footpaths of hoodlums to Yargoje forest.

Commenting further, Alhaji Majidadi stressed  that those responsible for the wanton killings must not be allowed to go unpunished.

“Our security agents must do all within their powers to ensure that the hoodlums are brought to justice without delay” Alhaji Majidadi concluded.
