Nigerians to see improved security on Abuja-Kaduna road soon, says IGP

Oniru of Iru kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal and acting Inspector General of Police during the commissioning of projects at the Nigeria Police Mobile Force 22 PMF, Ikeja, Lagos.

The acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has guaranteed Nigerians that the security challenges along the Abuja-Kaduna road will soon be a thing of the past.
Egbetokun made the promise when he commissioned some projects in Ikeja, Lagos.

Then projects commissioned include the remodelling and furnishing of the Administrative Block at 22PMF in Oduduwa, Ikeja, GRA, Lagos; Newlv built Police Clinic, ICT Centre, Police Tailoring Workshop, Transit Camp and Post-Traumatic De-Stress unit, the installation of 10 units Solar light, Building of Gates/ Security Post and others.

Speaking on the security situation along the Abuja-Kaduna road and other parts of the country, Egbetokun said: “Since I came into office as the acting IGP, we have taken steps to ensure that crime is reduced to the barest minimum, to ensure security. We are taking the necessary steps to get rid of criminal elements terrorizing motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna road, and very soon Nigerians will see the difference.

“We are establishing a Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and very soon, SIS will get into operation, so we need more time and our actions will start yielding results.

When asked about the welfare of police officers, he said: “Luckily, we have a government that cares so much about the welfare of police officers, the government understands the the purity challenges and welfare challenges. I have the assurances of the President that efforts are already on the way to bring smiles to the faces of police officers in Nigeria.
