The coordinator of the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS), has announced that the 2024 edition of AIHS will address the pressing issues of quackery and corruption in land approval processes and the monitoring of building projects.
Speaking on the urgent need to address the collapse of buildings in the country, Adebayo emphasized that these issues are critical to reducing the recent losses of lives and property. He highlighted the importance of stringent measures to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations in the construction industry.
Adebayo pointed out that unchecked corruption and the prevalence of unqualified professionals in the industry have significantly contributed to the frequency of building collapses. By focusing on these areas, AIHS 2024 aims to promote transparency and integrity within the sector, ultimately enhancing the safety and quality of housing.
He disclosed that upcoming edition of AIHS will gather experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to discuss and implement effective strategies to combat these challenges. The event will serve as a platform for sharing best practices, innovative solutions, and regulatory frameworks that can help mitigate the risks associated with building construction and land approval.
In his remarks, Adebayo underscored the necessity of collaboration among government agencies, professional bodies, and industry stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of reforms. He also called for increased public awareness and education on the dangers of patronizing quacks and the importance of following due process in land approval and building project monitoring.
The 2024 AIHS promises to be a pivotal event in shaping the future of the housing sector in Africa, with a strong focus on ensuring safety, quality, and accountability in the construction industry.
