National President of AITA Urges Dialogue Amid #EndBadGovernance Protests

In a resonant call for constructive engagement, Amb. Aminu Majidadi, the national president of the Almushahid Initiative For Transparency and Accountability (AITA), has urged President Ahmed Tinubu to critically address the citizens’ grievances fueling the #EndBadGovernance protests.

Amb. Majidadi, a steadfast advocate for national matters and promoter of peace, emphasized the civil right of citizens to voice their dissatisfaction, particularly when faced with policies adversely impacting their lives.

During his address, Amb. Majidadi highlighted the fundamental issues underpinning the protests, chief among them the high cost of living exacerbated by the recent subsidy removal. He pointed out that the consequent rise in commodity prices has placed an unbearable burden on the populace. “The citizens are not happy with the president’s broadcast,” Majidadi asserted, “as the statements made are not aligned with the core issues driving the protests.”

He outlined the protesters’ key demands: the reversal of the subsidy removal, a reduction in pump prices, and a decrease in foodstuff prices. These requests, he argued, are not only reasonable but essential for the immediate alleviation of the economic strain on Nigerians.

Amb. Majidadi commended President Tinubu for his declared openness to dialogue, urging him to honor this commitment for the nation’s safety and stability. “Listening to the citizens and engaging in genuine dialogue is imperative,” Majidadi stated. “It is through such engagement that we can foster a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.”

The AITA president’s further stressed the critical need for responsive and empathetic governance, particularly in times of widespread public discontent. As the nation navigates these turbulent times, the call for dialogue and understanding remains paramount in achieving lasting peace and progress.
