Insurgency: Gov Lawal Presents Patrol Vehicles To Police In Zamfara

The governor said the security of lives and property is topmost in his rescuing mission agenda.

Zamfara State Government has handed over operational patrol vehicles to the police to enhance their response to distressed calls and patrol of the State to ensure a secure environment for the residents.

Governor Dauda Lawal while handing over the operational vehicle to the sixteen Police divisions, two mobile Police force units and Counter Terrorism Unit ( CTU) said the security of lives and property is topmost in his rescuing mission agenda.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Zamfara State, Captain Bala Mairiga (retired), said the essence of the donation of operational patrol vehicles is to enhance police operations and quick response to emergency security threats in the State.

“In an effort to solve this insecurity problem, there is a need to empower our security agencies, especially the police and the Governor realized that police are not adequately mobile, they don’t have enough strong vehicles to move around.”

“In an effort to equip the police, the governor succeeded in buying these vehicles.”

While addressing the gathering, Governor Lawal took time to commiserate with the Police and the Nigerian Army whose seven of its personnel, were killed in an ambush by suspected terrorists on Thursday Morning. He assured them of bringing about many reforms that would improve the police and other security agencies efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out their Constitutional duties.

The governor said if governments at all levels want to fight corruption, the first port of call is the judiciary and they can start by improving the welfare of judicial Officers, training and other motivations for them.

“What I am doing right now is to come up with some of reforms that will take care of our police officers,  i am discussing with the CP, and once we finalize we will let you know in terms of your welfare, training and so on.”

“We will look at all the offices of our DPOs, all the police stations, we are going to put in the part of our budget to make sure we give you befitting offices, not just offices but other equipment that will make you function effectively.”

Governor Dauda Lawal said his administration will do its best to address the needs of security agents even with the financial constraint the State is being experienced.

The Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State, CP Mohammed Dalijan expressed the readiness of the Nigerian Police to defend and protect residents of the State against activities of violent armed bandits who are unleashing terror on innocent citizens.
