ABUJA MARKET MANAGEMENT STAFF MUSA, AKA MUSA FIRAUNA FRAUDULANTLY AND DISHONESTLY COLLECTS 7 OUT OF 62 SHOPS ALLOCATED TO KILISHI TRADERS ASSOCIATION.
In a petition received on 24th of February 2024 by Al Mushahid initiative for transparency and accountability (AITA) from the kilishi trader’s association Abuja indicated that one Musa Firauna a staff of the Abuja market management limited has dishonestly and fraudulently taken away 7 shop out of the 62 allocated to the association members by the Abuja investment company limited.
According to the chairman of the association Lawal Abubakar, members of his association were the original alottee of the shop which are 62 in number before it was eventually demolished by federal capital territory administration development control, in order to erect new ones, so as to create enough space for the traders to carry out their business.
But upon completion of the shops one Musa Firauna a staff of Abuja market management who is supposed to oversee the allocation in collaboration with some unscrupulous persons from Abuja investment limited fail to completely allocate the shops to kilishi traders.
They just allocated 55 out of the 62 shop to the traders keeping 7 or more for themselves in order to sell them at outrageous prices to the public,when the management of the association call to notice that some of its member did not get shop the said Musa Firauna started intimidating, frustrating and extorting them, seeing that some of them are not well read taking advantage of their illiteracy.
After denying them the right number of shop and upon sensing that some of them are aggrieved, he sought the cooperation of the officials promising to give however collaborate with him 3 shops but the official especially the public relation officer and the chairman decline to accept his offer as is against the oath they took to lead their organization to the best of their ability.
Kilishi traders association of Abuja are among the market organization that has not defaulted in the payment of their dues and rent to the investment company, even when the company ask for additional payment the associated always make sure they comply in order to carrying on their businesses hitch free.
In view of this dishonesty and irregularity by Musa Firauna of Abuja market management, Al Mushahid initiative for transparency and accountability (AITA) has forwarded the petition to the office of the minister of the federal capital territory, the permanent secretary of the ministry, the chairman senate committee on FCT, the managing director Abuja investment company limited and the director development control.
AITA National President is calling on all the relevant agencies in the federal capital territory to act swiftly so as to recover the complete number of shop to the kilishi traders association so each of them can have a shop for himself and in order to avoid any unpleasant situation that might arise from the in actions of Musa Firauna.
The national president further call on market associated and trader with the federal capital territory to be wary of person such as Musa Firauna as they fraudulently short change business owners due to their nature of work to dishonestly earn more money at their expense and so far AITA has written to the appropriate quarters, as we await a positive response to our petition believing they will do justice to the request as the kilishi traders association patiently awaits the outcome.
