Two political groups — the All Progressives Congress Support Group and the Youth Wing Mobilisation Vanguards have dissociated themselves and their supporters from the recall moves initiated against Senator Sahabi Yau Kaura who represents the Zamfara North Senatorial District of the state.
The two group’s leaders – Alhaji Ashiru Tukur and Engr Garba Shafi’i told newsmen on Sunday that the rumours making the rounds in that regard was a handwork of some miscreants who are on a mission to destroy the unity of APC in the state.
In a signed statement denouncing the recall initiative and which copies were shared with Arewa PUNCH, it read in parts: ‘’We dissociate ourselves, our good members of the party from all the four local governments of Shinkafi, Kaura Namoda, Zurmi and Birnin Magaji from this political blunders orchestrated to destroy our unity and stability in the zone and state in general.
‘’The move is a huge joke taken too far. It is a nurtured plan orchestrated to destabilise our common interest, unity, and political understanding intended to create indiscipline and confusion in APC Zamfara State,’’ the groups stated.
They further alleged that “it was a sponsored campaign against Sen. Yau Kaura, and that was a dirty job involving some jobless and non-party members to bring mischief and instability to the Zamfara Senatorial zone.
“We know it’s a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji, Alhaji Sani Jaji, who always align with the Peoples Democratic Party as he goes after the leadership of the party.
‘’We recall that the propaganda was orchestrated to create political tension and instability because they know that Sen. Yau Kaura is a calm, honest, and focused politician who can not go so low to fight him and in public glare.
‘’All the accusations levelled against Sen. Yau Kaura are unfounded, mere propaganda, mischievous and lies to tarnish his image and the good work from the legislative duties he is doing for the good people of his constituency and the nation in general,’’ the groups stressed.
They explained that “as an elected political leader, Sen. Yau Kaurà has displayed the best of character, discipline, and good leadership style to his zone including showing concern and care when it comes to the issue of developmental projects, peace and political cohesion of the people of Zamfara north senatorial zone.”
According to the groups, the empowerment support programmes executed by Yau Kaura have reduced the challenge of poverty and assisted tremendously in improving both the wellbeing and welfare of the people.
‘’The Senator ensured he gave out financial support for medium scale businesses and creating job opportunities to the teeming youths of the senatorial district, including women and the vulnerable.
Continuing, the two groups further pointed out, “He distributed millions of naira as palliatives that include foodstuffs, clothing, and built many schools and donated teaching materials to uplift the standard of education in the area.
‘’More of the senator’s projects included improved hospital services, roads, provision of water, scholarship and support in the fight against insecurity issues. Sen Yau Kaura has made it mandatory that he supports the welfare of the generality of people of Zamfara state,’’ the groups added.
The group leaders disclosed further that the employment of over 100 youths from the zone into such federal agencies as FMC, FUG, NBAIS, NITT and other federal agencies was facilitated by Yau Kaura and this has all the more improved the peoples’ living conditions.
‘’We witnessed the construction and commissioninĝ of many hospitals in Katuru, Billashi centres of his constituency just as the Senator also donated 10 ambulances to hospitals in Moriki, Zurmi, Dankade and some other towns,’’ the leaders hailed.
They equally noted that apart from initiating and completing solar street lights in all the four local government headquarters, “Yau Kaura also sponsored the construction of a feeder road from Nassarawa-Godel to Cigama that have a strategic important in reducing and easing much transportation for rural dwellers, a project abandoned for two decades,’’ the groups said.
They assured of their continued and unflinching loyalty and support to Sen. Yau Kaura and the leadership of the party in Zamfara State and advised youths in the state to be careful of the unstable character of certain political elites who are using them as tool of propaganda and destruction because they are on their payroll to achieve their selfishness and destruction agenda.
‘’Zamfara APC needs unity and political cohesion to bring back development and security for the people not based on political mischief and mudslinging against one another,’’ they noted.
Arewa PUNCH’s efforts to speak with Hon Jaji was not successful as his phone number indicated that his connectivity was “not available” as at the time of filing this report.
However, one of his aides who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity because he does not want to be openly dragged into the issue said the statement does not need any reaction from the camp of the Jaji Camp.
“I am sure you are aware that the same people within our great party recently wrote a kangaroo letter to the National Assembly saying they were recalling Hon. Jaji.
“For me, it’s just a ploy to get attention but we are not worried, Hon. Jaji is focusing on his job at the National Assembly.”
